International dance day

On the 29th April around the world people celebrate International Dance Day.

It is celebrated on this date because of the famous creator of modern Ballet, Jean-Georges Noverre. There are performances and workshops but this year we can’t do that but we can still dance and laugh at home.

So I suggest at home you can make up dance routines, do Just Dance on YouTube or the Oti Mabuse routines.

Why Should We Dance?

Dancing is good for your fitness, boosts your happiness levels, increases stamina, strengthens muscles and bones and it can improve your mental health.

Dancing is also a great activity to do at home because you can show off your incredible tricks to your parents and siblings. Positive effects of dancing are that it can improve the health of your lungs and heart, also it increases acrobatic fitness so you can do even better tricks.

All around the world people dance in different styles like ballet, tap, modern, theatre dances and so much more. I’m sure on strictly you saw, the waltz, tango, foxtrot, quickstep, and Viennese waltz, and Latin– which includes cha cha, rumba, samba, jive, and Paso doble, maybe you can get you mum and dad to do these at home with you.

Maybe you could make a routine at home and film it and send it in to your class teacher, we’ve done one choreographed to the music Mamma Mia and made a film using iMovie.

Do you dance? Tell us what you do in the comments below.

Have a lovely international dance day at home and keep dancing.
