A Letter About Climate Change by 3J

In Year 3 we have been learning about how Climate Change is effecting our planet, particularly the Polar Regions. Feeling inspired, we wanted to make a change and wrote letters to Sadiq Khan asking him what he would do to help with climate change in London.

Here is Beth’s letter.

Dear Mr Khan,

My name is Beth and I am 8 years old. I go to Chase Bridge Primary School in London. I am writing to you because I have been inspired by Greta Thunberg and I am concerned how climate change is affecting our earth.

At school, I am learning about the Polar Regions and climate change. Did you know that polar bears are dying because they can’t hunt for seals when the ice is melting?

I am concerned about what will happen to our planet in the future if we don’t do anything to help it. I think children should have lessons on climate change and environmental studies. Did you know that due to climate change and the polar ice caps are melting? Did you also know that climate emergency has become a word in the 2019 Oxford dictionary?

I feel very strongly about this issue and I look forward to hearing back from you soon and thank you for reading my letter.

Yours sincerely,

Beth

How do you feel about climate change? Do you agree with Beth?

  4. I think that helping the planet is what best for the people that live after us and the people after them. Just yesterday I did a piece of writing about plastic pollution. We should always look after our planet. One thing I will say is , if you ever buy a plastic bottle use it for as long as possible. Even better you could not even buy one. Don’t litter on the street or anywhere. 267 species are being harmed by plastic. About 80% of the debris ( small parts of plastic) are in the sea. There is about 6.3 billion tonnes of plastic in the sea. Sadly, plastic is poisoning and injuring marine life. It can also litter beaches and landscapes and makes humans and other animals ill.
