Isle Of Wight Models – 5W

We had an amazing time on the Isle of Wight as part of our work on coasts. Since returning home, we have made models to show you some of the places we visited. This includes: the Needles, Carisbrooke Castle, Robin Hill, Swiss Cottage, Titanic and the YMCA.


A variety of materials have been used in the construction of the models. This includes: old shoeboxes, clay, lego, paper maché, wood, toilet roll, string, bubble wrap, wire  and even polystyrene! Despite all the interesting places we visited, the Needles and chairlift were the most popular choices to make.

“My model of the Needles was made out of clay. It took me two days to make but it was worth it!” – Keira

“My model of the lighthouse has an LED finger light to warn nearby ships. I had a little bit of help from my mum. Did you know that the lights from the Needles’ lighthouse are the colours of the Italian flag?” – Emmi-lee.

We are looking forward to our Isle of Wight assembly on Friday 21st June. Parents are invited to watch our performance (which includes some singing and acting), read our topic books and listen to all the wonderful things we have learnt. We have also painted some pebbles.
