Marvelous Maths Morning

This week, Chase Bridge celebrated all things maths by having a fun filled maths morning. As part of the morning, the whole school took part in maths activities to help them with their learning.

The day was also filled with lots of maths themed outfits and we were so impressed by how many handmade outfits there were.

To kick of the day, everyone enjoyed  a fun maths themed assembly with Mr King and then the fun continued into the classrooms.

We spoke to children across the school to find out what they were doing and why they enjoy maths.

Over in the infants, they did lots of fun practical activities. We interviewed Jessica and George from Reception who said that maths was their favourite subject.

Children in year 2 said that they loves maths because they find it entertaining. While in year 1, they created interesting posters to help them understand different maths ideas. Overall we were impressed by how much learning they did while having fun!

Speaking to children in KS2 we were excited to hear their thoughts aswell.  Some of our favourite responses were from 3B who said “I find it fun because maths is all around.” They also said that they liked how they could combine creativity and learning.

The children weren’t the only ones excited about maths morning, Miss Walker told us:

“I like the fact that we can do maths for the whole morning. That means we can really get stuck into solving maths problems, using our maths skills and knowledge.”

We loved maths morning and have come up with a maths problem for you to answer.

There were 96 elephants in London Zoo. The zookeepers bought 48 new elephants but decided to split all the elephants evenly across 12 different sections of the zoo. How many elephants were there in each section?
