Rock Stars Battle – Why Do the Teachers Want to Win?

The competition is on this week with the Times Tables Rock Stars Competition being launched. Children throughout the juniors are excited about the competition starting and are eager to win but we wanted to know what the teachers think.

So we spoke to teachers around the school to find out why they want their class to win!

Mr Ballantine helped launch the competition and spoke to us about the importance of the competition.

“It’s important for them to try their best and it’s really important for them to learn as a team.”

Some teachers were sure their children would win with Miss McCormack  claiming, “4A are definitely going to win. ”

Mrs Major said “I want 4M to win because they are working really hard at their times tables, so I think we will be the best. I also want us to get a certificate and have an exciting school disco.”

While Mrs Demetriou shared her classes’ determination. “My class are going to win the competition because we won the last Year 4 battle, and also we practise our times tables everyday and we are a very determined class! ”

Over in Year 6 the teachers were sharing words of wisdom.

Mrs Briggs told us, “I’m very competitive and I’m very proud of my class.” She also gave tips on how to win. “First use the facts you know to work out the ones you do.”

Mrs Chadwick said she wanted 6C to win because she wanted the class to feel like champions. While her advice was ” Never give up! Believe to achieve.”

In 6M Mr Mantle had a very competitive spirit telling us ” I don’t want to win, I know 6M WILL win!” His advice was “To remember patterns between times tables and links between. If you know your 3 times tables you know your 6s and 9s.”

We think this is great advice!

The competition closes on Sunday 9 December, so until then get multiplying!
