Forces Projects by 3M

Last half term, Year 3 were learning about forces and reading Fantastic Mr Fox. As part of this topic we had to create a D&T project about the science of forces and it needed to be Fantastic Mr Fox themed.

In 3M, we were given a design brief to make sure our projects were interesting and suitable for Key Stage 1. All projects needed to include levers that used push and pull forces and mention how gravity works.

We found it interesting creating our projects and faced different challenges. We had to go through many stages including making a plan and putting together our levers. As part of this, we needed to think about which type of levers we were going to make. To make our levers we used split pins and card, which was hard to cut. During this we learnt how to use sharp tools.

Once we completed our projects we had to present our ideas to year 2 which took a lot of courage. We had to speak loudly and remind the children to be careful with the levers. We asked them lots of questions to make sure they understood what we had shown them. It was like being a teacher.
