After spending the year hard at work the year 4 Battle of the Books team took part in the annual competition. All of their hard work paid off and the group claimed second prize in this tough contest.
Taking place at St Richard Reynolds School, 24 schools from across the Richmond borough took part and showed off their understanding of the books. They all wanted to get their hands on the Battle of the Books 2019 shield.
Competing in three rounds which were art, drama and a quiz the children had to remember all the details of the ten books.
During the quiz, the children were asked questions about all of the little details about the books such as What was Davey’s full name in Cloud Busting?
For the art round, all groups had to recreate a front cover of one of the books and create a 3D setting of another book. All without adult help! The Chase Bridge group chose The Arrival and Journey to the River Sea.
In the final round, each school had to create a short drama piece, less than 3 minutes, based on one of three scenes chosen by the judges. Chase Bridge chose Cloud Tea Monkeys, a favourite amongst the team, and the judges were impressed by their team work and slow motion teapot.
After a long, tiring, the teams dedication and perseverance contributed to their close victory, missing out on first place by just ONE POINT!
Well done to the whole team (Frank, Charlotte, Castor, Eddie, Alfie, Annabelle, Millie and Emelia) who worked incredibly hard for the whole year and within the competition.
